Use arrows to move and open doors, A to jump, S to use sword and D to shoot. You will also come across obstacles such as signposts, checkpoints, switches, etc. When you defeat enemies, they sometimes drop powerups. These either restore lost points or give you extra life. Be careful with the oxygen bar when you are in the water. There are secret rooms with gold in each level.
